About The Position

The Railroad Utility Worker/Flagman position at Transdev involves operating heavy rail equipment and providing flagging services to ensure safety on the tracks. This role is crucial for maintaining railroad operations and supporting maintenance and construction activities in South Florida. The worker will be responsible for adhering to safety regulations, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring the safety of railroad workers and contractors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Class A CDL required.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant flagging experience preferred.
• Previous heavy equipment operating experience, preferably in the railroad sector.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of equipment and tools for construction and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Local travel is required and reliable transportation is necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Equipment Operations Training preferred.
• FRA 213 Track Inspection Training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all SFRTA and Transdev rules and policies for safety and operations, and Federal Railroad Administration requirements.
• Operate specialized heavy equipment on track.
• Perform routine mechanical maintenance to equipment.
• Drive equipment onto truck trailers and operate it on track.
• Provide warnings and direct or restrict the movement of trains past a point of track to ensure On-Track Safety for Railroad Workers and Contractors.
• Regulate occupancy and/or access by contractors within fouling distance of track at work sites according to agency policies and procedures, FRA rules, and Roadway Worker Safety Procedures.
• Communicate with agency dispatcher using radio or cell phone.
• Control all on-track movements of construction equipment.
• Document and complete daily reports of flagging and construction activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Track or his designee.
