About The Position

Road & Rail Services, a premier logistics and support provider for the phosphate and fertilizer industry, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager / Yardmaster to oversee switching operations. Working on the property of a major industrial fertilizer plant, you will provide guidance and communication for train movement and track maintenance. This is a hands-on, safety-sensitive leadership role in a fast-paced environment where precision and productivity are critical.

Requirements

• 5+ years of supervisory experience is required.
• Prior railroad or rail yard switching experience is required.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, dust, noise) and be available for mandatory overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• A thorough understanding of FRA track repair requirements and class designation compliance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily activities of switching crews and associates engaged in track maintenance and repair, ensuring all team members follow customer and company safety procedures.
• Develop work plans for train movement and prioritize track maintenance projects to support operating efficiencies and customer service commitments.
• Proactively inspect tracks, switches, crossings, and roadbeds for defects to ensure the safe operation of train traffic. Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, FRA, and DOT regulations.
• Make independent decisions regarding coaching and team management while serving as the primary point of contact to exceed customer expectations.
