About The Position

The Railroad Project Manager - Facilities at HDR is responsible for leading the development of railroad facilities and electrical plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various projects involving Class I railroads, short line railroads, and industrial clients. This role emphasizes client relationship development, project management, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring effective communication and coordination within multi-disciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an Electrical Power Systems emphasis.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • Software experience in Revit Electrical, AGI, and EasyPower.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in technical writing and presenting to clients.
  • Local client experience.
  • Previous construction or trade experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager for railroad facilities projects.
  • Lead the development of electrical plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Develop client relationships to identify project opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively between clients and project teams.
  • Participate in proposal development and marketing activities.
  • Direct and mentor junior staff.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate with technical and clerical professionals.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work efforts accordingly.
  • Perform detailed quality control reviews of railroad facilities projects.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule.
