About The Position

AECOM seeking an experienced Railroad Construction Manager in Dallas, TX to lead, support, and oversee track construction and maintenance operations across our rail infrastructure. This role is ideal for a proven rail industry leader with extensive experience managing construction crews, ensuring FRA compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of track safety and integrity. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge, and a track record of advancing safety culture and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience in railroad track construction, maintenance, and crew leadership or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Proven experience working with major railroad systems such as BNSF Railway or Union Pacific Railroad .
  • MVR check required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Construction Manager, Track Superintendent, Roadmaster, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in track inspection and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team development abilities.
  • In-depth technical understanding of track infrastructure, installation, and maintenance processes.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce FRA regulations and railroad safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide safety and technical support to construction and maintenance teams working on major railroad systems.
  • Coordinate workflows for track forces to ensure efficient, high‑quality construction and maintenance operations.
  • Direct gangs in all phases of track installation, maintenance, turnouts, and crossing construction.
  • Ensure full compliance with FRA rules and regulations and all railroad safety standards.
  • Protect the safety of all personnel under your authority, enforcing a culture of safety excellence.
  • Deliver or support safety training initiatives, including rules instruction and on‑track safety procedures.
  • Oversee inspection of track installation, new turnouts, and crossings.
  • Supervise repairs and maintenance of track infrastructure across assigned territories.
  • Communicate project expectations effectively with contractors, railroad partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the cultural shift from acceptance to excellence by developing employees and reinforcing company values.
  • Train personnel in areas such as: Hours of Service compliance First Aid/CPR New hire onboarding Crane & Rigging Fall Protection Safety systems & procedures
