Requirements

  • High school diploma, state-recognized GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ year operating industrial or material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated skill with rigging practices and securement methods.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Comfort working in non-climate-controlled areas as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands to handle tools or materials.
  • Frequent verbal communication; occasional tasks may involve detecting odors.
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision requirements: close and distance vision; color differentiation; peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Move rail vehicles across the facility safely and efficiently.
  • Set up flatcars and load rail vehicles onto flatcars or tractor trailers following established procedures.
  • Apply advanced rigging and tie-down techniques to secure rolling stock.
  • Perform visual inspections and quality checks on equipment and rigging before every move.
  • Use hand and power tools confidently; interpret blueprints and technical drawings with accuracy.
  • Support special operations and tasks directed by the lead technician.
  • Carry out maintenance based on prints, parts lists, sketches, or verbal direction for production, transport, and facility equipment.
  • Communicate clearly, follow instructions precisely, and keep safety at the forefront.
