Job Summary: The overall guiding expectation is that the supervisor will actively engage with our customer's site leader(s) and full-time field employees to ensure PSC strives to achieve excellent performance in the areas of safety, environmental and overall job quality. The main duties of the supervisor are to lead and train employees in cleaning, repair and maintenance of freight cars. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday days (must be flexible with hours)

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in railroad operations, with a strong focus on safety and employee training.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Self-driven professional with a strong ability to build trust and foster team collaboration.
  • Strong active listening skills with a focus on understanding and responding effectively.
  • High attention to detail, essential for maintaining safety standards and delivering quality work.
  • 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Stable work history with good references from past employers
  • Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in tank car or railcar cleaning and confined space entry is highly preferred.
  • Welding or industrial repair experience is a plus.
  • Solid computer skills (MS Word & Excel); ability to learn proprietary software required
  • Ability to read / interpret blueprints and drawing
  • PSC is a veteran-friendly company. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the hiring process by assisting with candidate selection and evaluation.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and timeliness in all repair activities.
  • Coordinate and manage employee work schedules to meet operational demands.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to labor tracking, material usage, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company quality control standards throughout all work processes.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust workloads and staffing to meet deadlines.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, promoting a culture of compliance and awareness.
  • Identify and address hazardous conditions promptly and proactively work to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Actively participate in and support quality improvement initiatives and responsible care programs.
  • Train, motivate & discipline his/her direct reports.
  • Responsible for the quality of all work performed by his/her team.
  • Inspection of completed work
  • Completes any other duties that may be assigned to complete the job.
