About The Position

Seeking a Railcar Repair Bill Auditor responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and compliance of all railcar repair billing and ensuring that invoices from repair shops and vendors adhere to industry standards and the Association of American Railroads (AAR) billing rules. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of rail industry terminology and a keen eye for detail to identify and resolve billing discrepancies. This role reports to the Director of Services and supports the Logistics team by managing the project schedules, managing the risks, and being the central communication hub between all internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in AAR railcar repair billing
  • Thorough understanding of AAR car repair and billing rules.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce error-free work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Excel and relevant billing software (e.g., ExpressYard MMS, iIRX, RailcarRx, CarLogix, etc..).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a railroad, railcar leasing, or railcar repair tracking system environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Uploading CROP and CHOP files from Railinc and other files from the industry or car owner.
  • Audit incoming railcar repair invoices and exceptions to verify accuracy and compliance with AAR rules
  • Review repair estimates to ensure that all repairs are necessary, proper, and correctly billed
  • Work with internal operations and external repair shops to resolve billing issues and discrepancies promptly
  • Manage rejection and exception correspondence, issuing counter-billing authority where applicable, as well as rebilling for lessee responsible repairs
  • Maintain accurate and organized billing records for all railcar repairs.
  • Generate reports on billing processes, performance metrics, and cost-saving initiatives
  • Stay up to date with the latest AAR Field Manual and Office Manual Interchange rules, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the accounting and fleet management departments to streamline billing processes
  • Assist in getting LoA in place to manage customer car repairs
  • Help customers with Ad Valorem tax preparation, OT-57 processing, DDCT, and destroyed cars
