Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent blend of education and relevant experience in manufacturing or materials painting.
  • 1+ year of painting experience in a manufacturing or comparable materials environment.
  • Basic English proficiency to communicate with teammates, vendors, and partners.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, memos, and technical documentation.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.
  • Physical demands Frequent walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Regular climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
  • Work performed on elevated platforms, including overhead tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, prime, and apply topcoats to passenger rail vehicles.
  • Hand, block, and mechanically sand carbon and stainless steel shells to paint-ready quality.
  • Mask and meticulously clean surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Apply primers and undercoats with an eye for consistency and coverage.
  • Maintain tools and paint equipment for optimal performance.
  • Collaborate and assist fellow painters to meet safety, quality, and delivery targets.
