Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or an equivalent mix of education and relevant hands-on experience in painting or related materials in a manufacturing setting).
  • 1+ year of painting experience in a production or similar environment.
  • Basic English skills to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contracted services, and teammates.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and technical documents.
  • Competence with arithmetic using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; able to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and interpret bar graphs.
  • Physical demands Frequent walking; reaching; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling.
  • Regular climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
  • Work on elevated platforms and perform overhead tasks.
  • Lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, prime, and apply topcoat on light rail vehicles.
  • Hand, block, and mechanically sand car shells to ready them for primer and paint.
  • Mask and clean surfaces to ensure proper coating adhesion.
  • Apply primers and undercoats to specification.
  • Perform routine maintenance on paint equipment and tools.
  • Support fellow painters and the broader team as needed.
