About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Rail and Transit Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of New York, NY. YOUR ROLE Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads for R&T and other Infrastructure projects as needed. Perform data acquisition and analysis, including collection of field data, routine engineering calculations, and evaluation of design alternatives for roadway and infrastructure assignments. Prepare technical sections of reports, cost estimates, and documentation under supervision of senior engineers, supporting New York–based transportation and civil design projects. Participate in field observations and construction-related activities, including review of shop drawings, documentation of progress, and quality-control data collection where appropriate. Support general project management and operational workflows across the R&T business by coordinating cross-functional activities, tracking deliverables, compiling project documentation, and assisting with day‑to-day business operations. This includes contributing to internal process improvements, supporting financial and administrative tracking, and helping ensure smooth execution of team priorities through adaptable, wide‑ranging assignments that evolve with business needs.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of engineering experience, including internship experience in transportation, project management, or design using OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or related civil engineering platforms.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited program), expected May 2026; coursework includes Transport Systems, Transportation Optimization, Advanced Structural Analysis, and ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency with engineering and design software: OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ArcGIS, Rhino.
  • Experience with project management, technical writing, data analysis, and preparation of engineering reports.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and presentation skills developed through engineering internships and leadership roles.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, develop 3D models, and assemble materials for permit applications and project documentation.
  • E.I.T. eligibility within 12 months of graduation.
