Requirements

  • 3-5 years of switching experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance.
  • Active Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card).
  • Willingness to attend and pass all job-related training, including OSHA, HazMat, and FRA-related courses.
  • Ability to travel to other sites for switching and training requirements.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Clear drug/alcohol test and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Spotting cars on the correct track and moving empty cars to build the outbound train.
  • Classifying inbound trains and interacting with class one railroads.
  • Visually inspecting rail cars and performing air brake inspections.
  • Cross-training and assisting in different functions performed at the facility.
  • Operating a locomotive with provided training and certification.
  • Participating in and promoting the Savage safety program/SHAPS.
