The primary responsibilities will be to apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to support the design and construction of railroad bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and associated railroad structures for freight rail and transit clients. Additional duties include performing standard AREMA bridge analysis and design calculations, assisting with geometric layout, developing structural details, performing structural load rating calculations, quantity development, and using specialized software such as LARSA, MathCAD, LEAPBridge (CONSPAN), LPile, FB MultiPier and MicroStation. Occasional bridge inspections of in-service bridges or bridge construction, may be required. CADD plan production will also be required. This person will work under the direction of a Licensed Structural and/or Registered Professional Engineer on both local and national projects.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Attention to detail
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0 GPA
• Pursuing a BS or MS in Civil Engineering preferred
• Good communication skills
• Interest in Railroad and structures is preferred
• Experience with structural analysis and design programs preferred
• Experience in MicroStation or other CAD design software is preferred
• Preference will be given to local candidates with internship experience
