In this individual contributor role, you will be responsible for the coordination and execution of the maintenance activities associated with LyondellBasell’s railcar fleet. During a typical day, you will work closely with the Rail Asset Manager, Rail Reliability Engineer, and third party fleet management services to perform required maintenance on LyondellBasell’s railcars. This position reports to the Rail Asset Manager and is located at our North American Headquarters in Downtown Houston. Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years’ relevant, industry related experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Will consider candidates with a High School Diploma that have at least 10 years’ relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Willingness to work flexible work schedule, when necessary.
  • Ability to travel domestically to railcar shopping facilities.
  • High initiative and ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of regulatory requirements related to railcar maintenance including proficiency with the AAR Rules Manual.
  • Demonstratable knowledge in logistics operations, logistics commercial, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to maintain professionalism and prioritize responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with extended tools.
  • Experience with ERP software such as SAP is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the shopping of LyondellBasell’s leased and owned railcars.
  • Act as a main point of contact for Account Specialists, Inventory Planners, Manufacturing, Logistics Commercial, and outside maintenance vendors concerning all rail maintenance requests.
  • Direct point of contact with mini-shops, cleaning facilities, and full service shops on any required railcar repair, including issuing shopping instructions and statement of work.
  • Responsible for reporting dwell time and shop turn times, and utilizing that information to hold shops accountable to industry benchmarks for performance to maximize the efficiency of the process.
  • Ensure regulatory maintenance compliance programs meet yearly requirements.
  • Lead the shop auditing process for railcar maintenance program.
  • Responsible for approving change of service requests and developing requirements for new railcar on-hiring in compliance with the Product Handling and Equipment Specification (PHES).
  • Provide oversight of the construction process for new railcar acquisitions.
  • Execute the preventative maintenance program for the railcar fleet.
  • Review and approve repair plans and cost estimates for railcar maintenance.
  • Conduct material and equipment ordering for railcar repairs at mini-shops, mobile shops, and manufacturing sites.
  • Proactively maintain car mechanical files and ensure accurate documentation/car specifications in the fleet management system, in alignment with the Umler system.
  • Review and resolve quality notifications pertaining to railcars.
  • Regularly review AAR circulars to determine the impact to LyondellBasell’s railcar fleet.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration with third party vendors to negotiate rebates for paint supplies and railcar parts.
  • Operate with a solution-oriented mindset with regard to process improvements; Assist with change implementation for fleet management systems or other railcar projects.
  • Partner with peers to provide solutions, guidance to resolve railcar or business related problems.
  • Model LyondellBasell core competencies with internal and external customers/suppliers.
