Who We Are As a Precision Vehicle Holdings company, Precision Vehicle Logistics was originally created in 2014. Precision Vehicle Logistics is focused on yard management working in partnership with labor unions. PVL offers a full range of vehicle processing services for origin facilities, destination ramps, and ports – including rail loading and unloading. What You’ll Do As an essential member of the Operations team, you will play a vital role in preparing new vehicles for rail transport, with a strong focus on safety. Success in this role will require the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment. As a Rail Loader, you’ll be responsible for:

Requirements

  • Strong driving skills with an exemplary level of safety awareness, quality, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in operating handheld scanners and other equipment such as bridge plates, end doors, and mobile loading ramps.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Must hold a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
  • The employee must ensure safety while working in a shipping and rail yard environment, including safely entering and exiting customer cars, railcars, and equipment.
  • Work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Frequently carry, lift, move, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Quickly respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
  • Comfortably wear personal protective equipment.
  • Frequently navigate a busy environment.
  • Perform various manual tasks such as ascending/descending ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, twisting, crouching, and reaching, all of which may be repetitive.
  • Visual acuity and physical dexterity are essential for performing the duties associated with the role.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, work instructions, procedure manuals, and policies.
  • This position requires the employee to be onsite full-time.
  • A person applying for this position must be available to work full-time, with the flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or nights when necessary.
  • As an employee, you will be responsible for retaining a valid driver's license, free from any drug or alcohol-related driving convictions or reckless driving and always remain “insurable” while operating company owned or controlled vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Safely driving and parking new vehicles in designated holding lots or facilities.
  • Carefully selecting vehicles for loading based on predefined criteria.
  • Ensuring the quality handling and distribution of new vehicles post-production.
  • Utilizing scanning technology to accurately assign vehicles to railcars.
  • Conducting vehicle inspections and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Efficiently loading, securing, and unloading vehicles onto and from train railcars in alignment with AAR and Customer standards.
  • Collaborating closely with team members to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors to support operational needs.
