About The Position

Rail Laborers work as a team to manually load and offload vehicles from railcars. Following the offloading process, these vehicles are relocated to designated parking areas in the yard in a safe and efficient manner. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the daily plan as communicated by local leadership.
  • Drive vehicles on and off railcars, often working at heights, using a ramp system.
  • Ensure vehicles are spotted in accordance with customer standards and properly spaced and secured within the railcar
  • Perform duties to prepare railcars and containers for shipment such as opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, chocking and de-chocking vehicles.
  • Maintain organization of vehicles in the yard inventory.
  • Understand and adhere to all company and industry-related safety standards and procedures.
  • Communicate with the Terminal Manager and other railroad personnel to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
