About The Position

Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for Rail Business Analyst. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing data (operations, infrastructure, safety, security, etc.) to identify problems/opportunities, optimize efficiency, and recommend improvements, bridging gaps between technical and business teams by defining requirements, document processes, and supporting project implementation for better performance, cost-effectiveness and annual strategic goals within the rail and engineering departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a public sector rail transportation environment or related field.
  • Any combination of experience, training and/or education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for the required education.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes rail-related data (operations, infrastructure, safety/security, assets) to identify trends, problems, and improvement opportunities, and recommends ways to increase efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness
  • Produces recurring performance reporting, including monthly Rail Quality & Performance Program outcomes, dashboards/visuals, and presentations.
  • Serves as liaison between technical and business teams, translating stakeholder needs into documented requirements, mapping processes, and communicating findings and progress to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Supports project/program implementation, including developing and tracking performance metrics/KPIs and helping teams manage program/project strategies.
  • Provides contract, procurement and financial support, including contract payments, budgeting, re-estimates/amendments, project close-out and oversight of rail program change control.
  • Assists with grant and regulatory reporting, working with finance/planning on milestone progress reports and NTD reporting support.
  • Maintains critical tracking and documentation system, including master operations and maintenance LOA contract tracking/reporting system and rail/engineering record management and retention activities.
  • Work with internal and external business partners to understand needs and translate them into clearly documented requirements for new and/or improved systems or changes.
  • Assist rail and engineering departments with federal/state and local grant management, including monthly reporting of grant status and grant closeout. Report final performance of programs and projects.
  • Prepares and manages Board of Directors agenda action items and reports for the rail and engineering departments. Prepare responses for the rail operations and project inquires.
  • Responsible for the Rail and Engineering departments records management and records retention program activities.
  • Maintains confidential information.
  • Makes recommendations to management to improve operations, decrease inefficiencies and streamline work processes; works cooperatively with all customers, internal and external.
  • Participates in company community activities to promote transit on off-duty hours.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
