About The Position

As a Rafter Crane Operator at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to precise specifications. This role ensures efficient, high-quality production while maintaining safety and operational standards. Requirements

Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
Ability to read and maintain production records; proficiency with measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers; capable of operating forklifts, cranes, and other required equipment.
Detail-oriented, ability to work independently, strong problem-solving skills.
Regular, full-time, predictable attendance; commitment to lead and promote safe work practices per regulatory and company policy.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, push, and pull.
Ability to stand for 10–12 hours and maintain good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
Use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support movement over time without fatigue.
Other physical requirements as necessary for the role.

Responsibilities

Observe all safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules to operate equipment efficiently and safely.
Set up and calibrate equipment to meet production requirements.
Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
Record and report deficiencies in quality to supervisors or the quality department.
Maintain equipment tooling and other necessary tools to ensure job completion.
Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and production delays.
Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain clean and safe work areas.
Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
Assist maintenance teams with repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment.
Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance efficiency and quality.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
