About The Position

The position is part-time at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in the Radiology department, requiring 8 hours of work per week. The role involves supporting imaging technologists with patient preparation and examination room organization, ensuring compliance with infection control practices. Responsibilities include verifying patient identification, assisting with patient transfers, using radiology computer systems, and documenting patient records accurately. The position requires knowledge of age-specific care and the ability to assess patient needs. The incumbent must demonstrate skills necessary for patient care and adhere to departmental policies.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification within 120 days of graduation.
  • Must be a student from an accredited radiology program and in 2nd year of clinical training.
  • Anticipated completion from a Radiography program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
  • Successful completion and documentation of clinical competencies in various radiographic procedures.
  • Good communication and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supports imaging technologists with preparation of patient and examination room prior to, during, and following imaging procedures.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and maintaining equipment.
  • Verifies patient identification using two identifiers and communicates with patients to explain procedures.
  • Assists patient in preparation for exam and transferring patients to and from exam rooms.
  • Independently transports patients to other areas of the facility as required.
  • Uses the radiology computer systems to generate requisitions, check schedules, and obtain pertinent patient information.
  • Reviews patients medical record to obtain necessary clinical information.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations under supervision.
  • Ensures that images and other patient records are accurately documented in SmartChart, RIS, and PACS.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
