About The Position

The Diagnostic Technologist is responsible for preparing patients and performing routine radiographic procedures in accordance with physicians' orders. This role involves producing high-quality images and presenting them for timely interpretation by Radiologists, while supporting the mission and values of Mary Washington Healthcare. The position requires adherence to safety practices and departmental protocols to ensure quality patient care.

Requirements

• ARRT registered or registry-eligible in Radiologic Technology.
• Completion of accredited two-year program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
• VA State Radiologic Technologist License required for outpatient facilities.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Three years relevant experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Radiography Clinical Instructor.
• Knowledge of program goals and clinical evaluation systems.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback to students.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for radiology examinations by confirming physicians' orders and obtaining medical histories.
• Performs radiology examinations/procedures on all patient age groups and maintains clinical competency.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols for effective operations.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.
• Adheres to radiation safety practices for patients and personnel.
• Interacts effectively with students, providing supervision and instruction.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials.
• Reports, records, and files patient and procedural data accurately.
• Maintains competency in the use of iSite PACs, syngo, Soarian, and other management systems.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities utilizing PDCA and LEAN methodology.
• Administers contrast agents following established guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
