About The Position

The Dexa Tech is responsible for measuring patient's bone mass according to prescribed exam protocols and exam durations, processing bone density study measurements using computer generated methods, and proper use of electronic medical record with patient chart documentation. Work situations are a variety of clinical and clerical functions, which requires knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data; discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision-making; and a good customer service attitude.

Requirements

  • A.S. degree is Radiologic Technology or BS in Radiographic Sciences
  • Current AART certification
  • BLS Certification

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year rad tech experience
  • DXA certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform procedures using bone density x-ray equipment and coordinating patient care for bone density services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Set up and adjust equipment to view specific body area as requested by physician.
  • Help facilitate the referring provider is getting copy of reports.
  • Check referral for appropriate study and follow up with referring physician when in doubt or with questions as necessary.
  • Check patient histories and clinical indications and consult with the Radiologist when necessary to determine appropriate scanning procedure.
  • Guide patients through this process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns.
  • Coordinate with office staff for timely care of patients.
  • Assist patient onto/off exam table when needed.
  • Perform high quality bone density images in a timely manner while providing excellent patient care.
  • Monitor patient's well-being during scan; take appropriate action when patient discomfort or medical problems are recognized.
  • Releases patient with proper follow-up information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
