Under limited supervision, provides radiological exams for patients. Essential Functions: Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives. Performs radiological testing according to Department protocols. Proficient in use of all radiological equipment. Reviews and evaluates digital x-rays, to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan. Operates or oversees operation of radiological equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Positions patient and imaging equipment, adjusting controls to set exposure time and distance, according to department protocols. Monitors patients' conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physician. Sets up examination rooms, ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready. Ensures proper sterilization and cleanliness of work area and equipment. Prepares and administers oral or injected contrast media to patients. Properly identify patients and exam using two or more identifiers. Takes thorough and accurate patient medical histories. Records, processes, and maintains patient data in electronic medical record. Helps with such tasks as dressing and changing to seriously ill, injured, or disabled patients. Operates fluoroscope to aid physician during fluoroscopy exams.
