About The Position

Christie Clinic's department of Radiology is seeking a full-time Radiology Technologist (Sign-On Bonus Available) at the University clinic, with the ability to assist other locations, from varied hours between Monday-Friday, 7:15am-5:30pm. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing diagnostic imaging procedures. Your expertise in operating radiographic equipment, your commitment to patient care, and your attention to detail are vital to our mission of providing accurate and compassionate healthcare. Current certification, or working towards, with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA) is required.

Requirements

  • Evidence of annual completion of CEU’s in accordance with ARRT and IEMA.
  • Graduated from an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment for the following population: Infant (Birth to 1 year) Child (1year through 12 years) Adolescent (13 years through 17 years) Adult (18 years to 65 years) Geriatric (over 65 years)
  • Apply knowledge of the principles of radiation protection for the patient, self, and others.
  • Demonstrate competence in verification of correct patient, to include but not limited to using correct patient identifiers, as well as verification of ordered exam and ordering provider.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to accurately demonstrate anatomical structures on a radiograph.
  • Determine exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic technique with minimum radiation exposure to the patient.
  • Examine images for the purpose of evaluating techniques, positioning, and other pertinent technical qualities.
  • Provide patient care essential to radiologic procedures.
  • Recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
  • Maintain examination rooms and stock necessary medical and radiological supplies.
  • Clean and make minor adjustments to radiological equipment.
  • Aid provider in contrast studies unless specially trained to begin injection when a radiologist is present in the department.
  • Navigate and record accurate data in an electronic medical record and PACS systems.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and testing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
  • Skilled in training student technologists and co-workers in equipment operation and procedures.
  • Skilled in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to identify problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to efficiently operate a variety of standard office machines including a personal computer, computer software, (i.e. Word, Excel) phone, fax, shredding equipment, photocopier and any other operating system utilized for this position.
