Under general supervision of the Manager, the Radiology Technologist is responsible for delivering diagnostic imaging services across all department locations, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and safety standards. provides skill and initiative to the department mission through interactions with staff, Management and others as necessary. This position functions as a key operational resource, directly impacting patient care, departmental performance, and the achievement of strategic objectives. Position: Radiology Technologist, 40 hours Department: Whitman Primary Care, Schedule: Full Tim, 40 hours

  • Performs all technologist duties to ensure efficient departmental workflow, including coverage as assigned by leadership.
  • Performs duties in all assigned Radiology locations onsite or off-site in alignment with the hospital mission and direction from leadership.
  • Prepares and positions patients for exams; maintains patient comfort, safety, privacy, and modesty at all times.
  • Delivers age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan.
  • Verifies patient identity using two identifiers and consistently practices AIDET.
  • Monitors patient condition during exams and escalates concerns to nursing, physicians, or others as appropriate for patient safety.
  • Completes exams in a timely manner while producing high-quality diagnostic images for Radiology and other departments.
  • Performs appropriate studies as determined through the established imaging standards protocol. Follows requisition in terms of providing proper study for patients. Ensures that exams requested match patient condition and/or history and seeks clarification when orders, indications, or clinical questions require more information.
  • Works through radiologist requirements to provide appropriate views and films and provides additional views and variations of techniques per protocol or Radiologist direction.
  • Sets up and operates radiologic equipment using proper technique and exposure factors; adjusts as needed to optimize image quality while maintaining the lowest reasonable dose.
  • Follows all established departmental policies, procedures, imaging protocols, and accreditation standards
  • Follows radiation safety protocols to ensure patient and staff safety and maintains annual compliance training.
  • Adheres to all infection control, safety, and downtime procedures without delaying patient care.
  • Maintains equipment by communicating issues to leadership and service vendors to maximize uptime and minimize cost impact.
  • Understands managed care guidelines and works to ensure that guidelines are adhered to and proper policies are implemented.
  • Documents exams accurately and completely, including ICD coding, requisition completion, demographics, and entry into the Radiology Information System, to support billing and compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Associate's degree and completion of a two-year-old accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Current Massachusetts state license in Radiography, ARRT (R) certification and registration and all applicable Radiology education requirements.
  • New graduates must hold a current state of Massachusetts temporary radiologic technologist license. Temporary licensure is valid for one year from the date of issuance. Within that one-year time frame, new graduates must sit and pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national exam. The new graduate must then apply for a Massachusetts permanent radiologic technologist license.
  • BLS/CPR Certification required
  • Ability to communicate radiologic procedures, instructions, and findings clearly and accurately to patients and staff technologists.
  • Ability to provide technical supervision and instruction to staff technologists and students in performing imaging procedures.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures across patent populations using proper techniques and protocols
  • Knowledge of radiological equipment to ensure optimal image quality
  • Two years of work experience as a radiology technologist
