About The Position

Radiology Technologists perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X‑ray, Fluoroscopy, CT, and intraoperative imaging. They play a critical role in ensuring patient safety by following all established imaging protocols and radiation‑safety standards. As the first point of contact for patients undergoing imaging, Radiology Technologists serve as the frontline representatives of the department. They are responsible for creating a positive patient experience, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring that each patient’s imaging needs are met with professionalism, accuracy, and compassion.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited/approved school of radiology
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Valid Illinois Radiology license

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/AED and CT certifications are welcomed but not required

Responsibilities

  • Promotes a professional image by adhering to the established dress code.
  • Maximizes job potential by attending all mandatory education and in-service programs.
  • Contributes to the time management of the department by being punctual to work and on assignments according to the hospital and department standards.
  • Responsible for complying with all hospital confidentiality and HIPAA requirements relating to department and hospital medical records and patient condition.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of Medical Imaging patient medical records, includes Radiology, Vascular and Echo Lab.
  • Responsible for the filing and distribution of Radiology reports according to department protocol in the absence of office personnel.
  • Responsible for performing office related duties in the absence of office staff.
  • Identify each patient and review each patient’s requisition, either hard copy or in computer systems, for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
  • Records pertinent data on radiologic requisition at all times. (Physician’s name, technologist’s name, date, explanation for limited examination, etc.)
  • Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents the completed examination to the appropriate technical staff member, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
  • Use the computer system in documenting correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care according to established department protocol.
  • Perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges.
  • Organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the physician’s orders.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new employees.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and care through proper observation of established safety rules and regulations.
