Radiology Technologist - Ortho South Practice - PRN
About The Position
Under the supervision of the department Practice Manager and/or physician, performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic exams. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation. Is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the direction of an RN, LPN, physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Under the supervision of the Practice Manager and/or physician, performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic exams. The technologist assists with invasive procedures using sterile technique. This position requires independent judgment and initiative in utilization of traditional, computerized, and digital radiographic equipment to create high quality diagnostic radiographic images. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients seen in the physician practice where assigned. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may include registration, triage and clinical assistance to the physician when needed.
Requirements
- A graduate of an approved JRCERT radiologic program (The Joint Review Committee/DNV on Education in Radiologic Technology).
- Hospital clinical experience required
- Basic computer experience (1-2 years work experience or college level classes)
- ARRT certified (compliant with all continuing education mandates)
- ARRT registry eligible (must complete within one year)
- Radiological student from an approved Radiology program that has completed all academic courses (must be registry eligible within three months and complete registry within one year)
- BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
- Completion of 4 Hours of Erlanger Online Education specific to Total Ankle, Hip, and Knee Replacement upon hire (will be assigned by Department Leadership and/or Educator).
