About The Position

UPMC Montefiore is looking for a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to join our high-performing Radiology Team! This role primarily supports portable imaging across Montefiore Hospital, ensuring rapid, high-quality care for patients throughout the facility. Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.
  • Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.
  • ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date as of January 1, 2025.
  • CPR or BLS Required.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT Certificate
  • Act 34
  • Must have 6+ months of experience and commit to 48 weekends per year.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders to ensure optimal image acquisition aligned with departmental protocols.
  • Document relevant patient history accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Administer oral and rectal contrast per physician orders and policy.
  • Correctly code, track, archive, and charge all imaging exams within RIS and ISITE systems.
  • Independently perform diagnostic radiography exams with accuracy and technical expertise.
  • Operate complex imaging equipment to capture, analyze, and document high-quality images.
  • Use independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply ionizing radiation safely and appropriately.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients to reduce anxiety and promote cooperation.
