This position performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. The technologist operates equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines, ensuring the quality of images is satisfactory for clinical purposes. The role involves ensuring accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures, conducting image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors, and implementing radiation safety guidelines and proper radiation protection practices. The technologist is also responsible for delivering excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures, and must be able to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Responsibilities may expand based on facility needs, including on-call rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays, performing mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures. In Occupational Medicine clinics, expanded duties may include performing routine testing, sampling, drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and providing administrative and/or clinical support.
