About The Position

The Center for Surgical Innovation (CSI) at the University of Colorado is a multidisciplinary surgical training center dedicated to promoting educational courses and development of leading-edge surgical techniques and technologies. CSI has an opening for an on-call Radiology Tech for education events throughout the year. This is a flexible PART-TIME AS NEEDED hourly (paid monthly) University Staff (classified) position. The Radiology Tech is a fully operational technologist responsible for performing non-standardized tests and procedures using technical radiology skills (including fluoroscopy), taking and developing radiographs of various parts of the body to assist physicians in the surgical trainings. They must be able to position specimens and use equipment skillfully to capture useful, high-quality diagnostic images.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment
  • ARRT Certification
  • One (1) year of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

  • Within the scope of the job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong medical terminology knowledge and skills
  • Strong knowledge or CPT & ICD-10 procedures
  • Strong knowledge of value-based care and risk-based coding procedures in Primary Care
  • Strong knowledge of medication and injection procedures
  • Ability to safely administer a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
  • Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.
  • Ability to accurately take and record vital signs.
  • Ability to accurately reconcile patient medications.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years’ experience in a related area/specialty

Responsibilities

  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Ensure safety checklists and procedures are implemented and always documented.
  • Assists team in managing specimen during procedures, including documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the station, and controlling traffic into, out of, and around the room.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • (If applicable): Performs scrub functions as needed, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure and performs equipment counts with colleagues.
  • Positions specimens and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including re-positioning the specimens and repeating the procedure.
  • Enters and transmits images as needed.
  • Documents work processes as required.
  • Maintains work areas, exam rooms, supplies and equipment.
