About The Position

Job Summary The Radiology Technologist will produce radiographs of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist. Essential Job Functions Regular, consistent, on-site, and timely attendance. Collect pertinent data about the patient and procedure. Reconfirm patient's identification and verifies the physician's order. Review the patient's chart and/or the physician's order to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology. Verify the patient's pregnancy status when appropriate. Provide information to the patient about the procedure. Verify the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions. Provide accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand. Instruct patient regarding preparation prior to imaging procedures including allergic reactions. Analyze the information obtained during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis. Determine whether patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure. Assess factors that may contraindicate procedure such as medications or insufficient patient preparation. Select appropriate shielding and immobilization devices. Administer contrast agents according to established guidelines (if applicable). Obtain written consent prior to IV contrast administration. Evaluate lab values prior to administering contrast agents. Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered. Monitor patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media. Complete oral contrast screening form. Obtain optimum images during exam/procedure. Set/adjust radiographic equipment. Position patients to obtain diagnostic images per established protocols. Utilize CR equipment to maximize image quality (where applicable). Send images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist (where applicable). Archive images to CD's as needed (where applicable). Document information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record (where applicable). Verify/enter correct order into RIS/HIS. Document appropriate patient history into PACS system. Document any exceptions from the established guidelines. Scan appropriate documents into PACS system. Complete medication reconciliation documentation per department policy. Facilitate correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done in a timely manner (where applicable). Work with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER (if applicable) to accommodates STAT or ASAP orders. Coordinate patient care with other departments within Imaging/radiology. Maintain equipment and work station in optimum condition. Perform daily QC on radiographic equipment. Assure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained. Implement downtime procedures when necessary (where applicable). Coordinate rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime. Initiate established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime. Cognitive ability to function and concentrate on the essential and specialty functions of the job at a high level. Achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing an essential or specialty function of the job. Ability to think and concentrate for an entire shift. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program recognized by ARRT.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Current Registry with the ARRT
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.
  • Act 33 renewal
  • Act 34 renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Regular, consistent, on-site and timely attendance.
  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).

  • Previous Radiology Technologist experience (1 year).
