About The Position

Performs diagnostic imaging procedures as requested by the ordering physicians and under the direction of the radiologist as well as facilitates image storage in the PACS system according to the procedures and protocols approved by GMC. Also assists physicians and Radiologist in performing examinations by administering /providing contrast media and assisting with procedures as needed.

Requirements

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the state and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of the current trends and techniques of x-ray technology.
  • Ability to learn to conduct quality control studies; learn to use computerized radiologic equipment; learn to operate a computer for recordkeeping purposes.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Incumbents must be able to work stand-by and call-back duty and respond to a call within 20 minutes.
  • Prolonged standing, reaching, and bending
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations.
  • Good vision, hearing, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with GMC's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations.
  • Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
  • Using proper radiation protection and precautions, prepares and operates radiographic, fluoroscopic, and portable equipment.
  • Prepares the patient for the examination by ensuring the patient is attired properly, explains the examination to the patient.
  • Positions patients to obtain appropriate radiographic exposures.
  • Inform Modality Lead, Imaging Medical Director or direct report of any unusual concerns, situations or conditions relative to staff, patients and physicians.
  • Assists with stocking and cleaning rooms daily. Maintains adequate inventory of all required supplies by appropriately utilizing supply management/software/hardware and/or informing appropriate personnel for acquisition.
  • Performs a variety of clerical and image management tasks, as required such as working up patients, completing appropriate paperwork following each examination and properly identifies exams for PACS storage and review.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance studies.
  • Assists the supervising radiologist with administrative functions.
  • Performs other duties as required.
