Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. A caregiver in this position works 8:00am—4:30pm or 2:00pm—10:30pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiology exams and fluoroscopic procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Perform ED/surgical procedures (trauma cases, fluoroscopic exams to include vascular, general medicine, ortho, cardiac, GI, GU, neuro, pediatrics, and general procedures) in a sterile environment.
  • Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Provide verbal and written instructions to patients and families on procedures as needed.
  • Assist in scheduling patients.
  • Monitor and determine priority of patients.
  • Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam.
  • Demonstrate the care and operation of radiography equipment according to technical specifications and applications.
  • Assist Radiologists, physicians and surgeons with procedures.
  • Have knowledge of acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS.
  • Have knowledge of billing via RIS.
  • Maintain documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
  • Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires and radiology students.
  • Continually strive to learn new technical information and skills through attending periodic in-service programs and participating in professional affiliation sessions.
  • Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities and locations as needed.
