About The Position

The Radiology Technologist position at Carilion Clinic Imaging - Brambleton involves performing x-rays in an outpatient setting for diagnostic purposes. The role requires adherence to established radiologic and regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. The technologist will support clinic operations, both clinical and clerical, based on their training and competency. Responsibilities include performing timely and quality radiographic imaging, operating specialized equipment such as Digital Radiographs (DR) and Patient Archive Communication Systems (PACS), and ensuring all equipment is compliant with applicable laws and regulations. The technologist will also maintain records of activities, prepare patients for imaging, position patients for quality images, observe patients during exams, and interact with electronic medical records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduated from an accredited school or program of Radiological Sciences - Limited.
  • Limited Medical Radiology Technician license in the State of Virginia, required.
  • Ability to obtain AHA BLS-HCP certification within 30 days of hire, required.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record, preferably Epic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform x-rays in the ambulatory setting for diagnostic purposes.
  • Follow established radiologic and regulatory requirements to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Provide support for clinic operations (clinical and clerical) as directed.
  • Perform timely and quality radiographic imaging for evaluation and treatment by attending provider.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including DR and PACS.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order and compliant with laws and regulations.
  • Perform quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment.
  • Maintain records/logs of activities, including x-rays sent to other facilities.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-stocked work area.
  • Prepare patients for radiologic imaging, including identification and order verification.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment to acquire quality images.
  • Observe patients during exams for discomfort or distress and take appropriate action.
  • Interact with electronic medical records for patient orders and input data.
  • Respond to provider's questions regarding exams.
