About The Position

The position is for a part-time Radiologic Technologist at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, requiring 20 hours of work per week. The role involves performing diagnostic procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. The technologist will rotate between various outpatient centers and must obtain ARRT certification within six months of employment. The schedule includes day shifts with rotating weekend coverage.

Requirements

  • Maintains active IEMA License.
  • Minimum experience as a Radiologic Technologist, new grad accepted.
  • Knowledge of all areas of general diagnostic radiology.
  • Understanding of positioning and technique factors as in Merrill's Directory.
  • Able to perform all common radiologic procedures.
  • ARRT Registry within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies.
  • Positions patient, adjusts equipment, secures immobilization and support devices as needed to perform procedures.
  • Identifies each patient correctly prior to an exam procedure being performed, using two forms of identification.
  • Communicates effectively using AIDET with patients before, during and after exams to assure their comfort and cooperation.
  • Responsible for database entry of appropriate exam charges, starting, completing and verifying each exam for appropriate interpretation by physician upon completion.
  • Responsible for maintaining patient privacy while obtaining patient history and any pertinent continuing discussion.
  • Adherence to proper handwashing technique at all times.
  • Perform associated data center /clerical duties as needed.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the day-to-day operation and organization of the Department of Radiology.
  • Adherence to all accepted safety standards and practices to ensure patient safety and quality patient care.
  • Understand the operation, technique factors, and idiosyncrasies of function of commonly used radiographic systems in department.
  • Maintains positive guest relations and telephone etiquette following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Operation of more advanced and sophisticated procedures to include surgical rotational support and fluoroscopy.
