Under general supervision of the Director or Diagnostic Imaging, this position is responsible for scanning and producing a variety of computerized tomography examinations for physician interpretation and diagnosis of injury and/or disease for all patient ages. Assists the Radiologist with all diagnostic and interventional procedures. Delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to radiation standards and guidelines set forth by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. Performs related clerical and service duties and assists with other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to product optimum results.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Properly performs all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
  • Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
  • Accurately completes all records, paperwork and billings and submits promptly.
  • Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
  • Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC on images and appropriately sends exams to PACS for the physicians to review.
  • Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
  • Assists with other job-related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician, performs CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
  • Establishes IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
  • Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
