About The Position

The position involves operating x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician. The incumbent is accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies. Knowledge of the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment is essential. The role requires proficiency in general diagnostic procedures and, if applicable, general fluoroscopy procedures, including GI and Pain procedures. Adherence to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques is crucial in patient handling and delivery of care. The position also emphasizes the importance of following ALARA principles to reduce exposure to self, the patient, and others.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible.
  • For new graduates, ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of RIS & PACS.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Ability to handle patient information confidentially.
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes.

Responsibilities

  • Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs as ordered by a physician.
  • Documents all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters.
  • Ensures safe use and operation of radiography and fluoro equipment.
  • Performs general diagnostic procedures proficiently.
  • Adheres to infection prevention and sterile techniques.
  • Follows ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Utilizes proper patient identification for exams.
  • Obtains and records pertinent patient history and explains procedures.
  • Reviews radiographs for optimum quality.
  • Reports environmental/equipment problems.
  • Performs required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems.
  • Labels all radiographs according to established criteria.
  • Maintains professionalism and teamwork with co-workers and patients.
  • Participates in self-assessment and seeks opportunities for growth.
  • Attends in-services and maintains CPR certification.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures cleanliness of equipment.
