About The Position

The position is for a Radiologic Technologist at Advocate Condell Medical Center, which is part of Advocate Health. The role involves operating x-ray equipment to produce radiographs as ordered by physicians, ensuring quality and safety in all diagnostic procedures. The technologist will be responsible for patient care, including obtaining patient history, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort during exams. The position requires adherence to infection control protocols and ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure. The technologist will also maintain equipment cleanliness, manage inventory, and participate in ongoing education and training.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible; for new graduates, ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of RIS & PACS.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Ability to handle patient information confidentially.
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes.

Responsibilities

  • Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician.
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies.
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment.
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures and, if applicable, general fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Adheres to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques in patient handling and delivery of care.
  • Utilizes proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time.
  • Obtains and records pertinent patient history and explains the procedure to ensure understanding.
  • Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality and reports environmental/equipment problems.
  • Performs required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems and labels all radiographs appropriately.
  • Maintains professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers and patients.
  • Participates in assessment of own learning needs and seeks opportunities for increased competency.
  • Attends in-services and CPR classes to maintain knowledge and certification.
  • Maintains appropriate state license and national board certification.
  • Ensures cleanliness of equipment and work area and maintains inventory of supplies.
