About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist at Ochsner Health is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine radiographic procedures while adhering to safety protocols. This role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency within the radiology department.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligible, with registration required within 90 days of employment.
• Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Radiologic technology experience.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
• Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory and staff schedules.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.
• Performs other related duties as required.
