About The Position

Atrium Health Union is a 182-bed hospital in Monroe, NC, providing comprehensive emergency services and specialty medical care. The campus offers a variety of medical services, including a day surgery center, cancer treatment center, long-term care facility, behavioral health center, specialty care clinics, a community wellness and outreach program, a women and children’s center, interventional heart program and physician practices. The Radiology Technologist Associate performs a variety of patient care duties and other professional activities as needed to facilitate patient care and treatment, working under the supervision of a radiology technologist. This role also assists in monitoring the flow of patient activities in the department. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging.

Nice To Haves

Senior Radiography student preferred.
Medical clerical skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist.
Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
Assists physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound) to include procedures requiring the administration of contrast media.
Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
Assists patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
Assists with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
