About the position

The Radiology Tech performs various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. This position reports to the Director of Radiology and is classified as non-exempt under FLSA. The role requires a graduate of a program in the discipline, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred. A Kentucky State Radiation Operators License is required, or a temporary license may be accepted. Certification from ARRT must be obtained within 6 months of hire, and BCLS certification is required within 90 days of hire. The position demands critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision, often in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Program in Discipline - required or validated by current licensure.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Kentucky State Radiation Operators License or Temporary Kentucky State Radiation Operators License.
  • ARRT certification within 6 months of hire.
  • BCLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
