This position is contingent upon award International Health and Medical Services is looking for an experienced Radiology Technician to perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays and other imaging studies, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients' medical conditions. This role includes ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during imaging procedures and maintaining compliance with health regulations and protocols. Perform conventional radiology imaging of patients, who may include adult men and women and children. Most conventional imaging will involve chest radiography to screen for tuberculosis; however, conventional imaging of any body part that can be performed with the facility imaging equipment will be done as needed. Provide direct care to patients within discipline Scope of Practice and performs functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing and or granted privileges. Provide treatment of persons throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting. Respond to and or coordinate response to medical emergencies. Take radiologic images of head, trunk, and extremities for routine physical examinations and for diagnosis of illness or injuries. Set up X-ray rooms, deviates from the standard positioning and adapts a position to meet the needs of the patient. Evaluate x-ray to ensure that films are artifact free, correctly developed and are the best films that can be taken. Call significant findings to the attention of the physician or ordering health care provider. Ensure all precautions are taken so that the patient and radiology personnel are receiving the smallest amount of radiation as possible. Maintain use of dosimeter badge in accordance with vendor recommendations while on duty. Responsible for logging in and documenting all x-rays performed by the incumbent. Files x-ray reports and jackets in the appropriate place. Maintains an up-to-date quality control system on the x-ray machines and processor. Confer with radiologist to establish requirements of nonstandard examinations and determines technical factors, positioning, number and thickness cut of scans to satisfy the requirements. Advises radiologist or referring physician of results of examination and provides a preliminary diagnostic evaluation. Notifies radiologist of significant scans requiring their immediate attention and visualization while patient is undergoing examination. Perform record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and position. Maintain functional proficiency and ease of use utilizing electronic health records as required by, and appropriate to, position. Complete and pass all discipline specific competencies testing, initially and annually. Complete all initial, annual and ad hoc training as required. Maintain patient confidentiality, and confidentiality of medical records, in compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations in all work activities. Adhere to, and maintains awareness of Policies, Procedures, Directives, Operational Memoranda and accreditation standards as prescribed. Adhere to, and participate in, Safety, Prevention, Infection and Control, Quality Improvement, Patient Education and other programs and collateral duties as appropriate to position. Provide patient education on the intake screening process (includes facilitating completion of the medical care consent form), how to access care, the grievance process, and the method to request accommodations. Scan and verify medical records documents. Attend and participate in general and medical staff meetings. Apply knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques including concepts of accumulated dosage and genetic changes, effects of radiation on living organisms, and the effects of X-ray technique on patient and operator exposure in order to assure that adequate safeguards are maintained. Possess knowledge of basic physics including the concepts of energy, electric power, and types of electrical circuits, construction and the use of X-ray tubes and the properties of X-rays in order to understand the operation of the X-ray equipment, make changes to standard procedures to compensate for equipment aging, and determine when maintenance or repair is needed. Have Knowledge and proficiency of medical terminology. Work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment. Utilize telephonic interpreter and translation services to complete assigned duties if not fluent in a language the patient understands. Adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements. Communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) in order to develop positive rapport with patients, co-workers and other stakeholders. Establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment. Navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training and communications. Moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Have knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity. Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
