About The Position

The Radiology Technician position is designed for a second-year student currently enrolled in an accredited Radiography Program. This role involves assisting in diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining equipment. The North Alabama Medical Center is a 263-bed facility that offers a range of medical services, including open heart surgery and a complete line of imaging services. The center is recognized for its excellence in stroke care and serves as a primary referral center for trauma cases in Northwest Alabama.

Requirements

• Current student in good standing in an approved course in Radiologic Technology.
• Actively enrolled in and in good standing in the 2nd year of an accredited Radiography Program.
• Must have competencies in the various radiologic exams being performed.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
• Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
