Get to Know Your Team: Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital, and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, an adult intensive care unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, Center of Excellence recognized surgeons, imaging, primary and specialty care.

Requirements

  • Completion of, or currently enrolled in, a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program in Radiologic Science.
  • NCT status as permitted by state regulations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 14 days of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification and current registration for Radiologic Technologist (R.T.) from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Prior experience in a radiology or hospital imaging environment.

Responsibilities

  • The radiology tech, under the supervision of the Radiologist, performs and/or assists with all routine diagnostic and therapeutic radiographic procedures.
  • Produces quality images while applying both radiation and physical safety measures.
  • Collects patient data, documents procedures, and educates patients on radiologic procedures and safety protocols.
  • Performs and/or assists with ordered diagnostic imaging and safely prepares patients with positioning and protection equipment for radiologic imaging.
  • Consistently identifies patients accurately by using two patient identifiers per policy and procedure.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the ordered exam.
  • Ensures compliance with workflow guidelines per policy and procedure and participates in performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Ensures imaging equipment is in optimum operating order and informs the appropriate person when repairs are needed.
  • Consistently performs radiation safety in accordance with As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
  • Understands and attests to the principles of Image Gently and Image Wisely on an annual basis.
