The Radiology Tech Specialist I is responsible for preparing patients for examination, including positioning and executing specialty radiologic examinations. This role involves assisting radiologists and physicians during procedures, reviewing patient medical records to verify orders, and cross-training in other specialty areas or departments as workload demands. The specialist inspects films for quality, ensures proper patient identification on all films, and may assist in training new technologists and technical assistants. Key duties also include demonstrating competency in operating specialized equipment, adhering to safety guidelines and Standard Precautions, adapting to variable schedules and techniques, complying with radiation dosimeter policies, reporting equipment malfunctions, maintaining room supplies, and utilizing computer programs like HBOC for exam data entry and associated paperwork. Regular attendance at monthly department staff meetings is required.
