The Cardiovascular Invasive Special Procedures Tech provides competent, proficient, technical support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, implementing procedural standards and protocols. This role involves functioning as a scrub assistant, circulator, and monitor technician on a rotating basis, assisting physicians with complex interventional devices, and collecting/interpreting hemodynamic and oximetric data. The tech is responsible for observing sterile technique, processing digital imaging, and operating/troubleshooting imaging and physiological monitoring equipment. Patient care is a significant component, including basic patient assessment, preparation, monitoring vital signs, performing CPR/defibrillation, venipuncture, and post-procedure care such as sheath removal and hemostasis. The position also entails providing support and education to patients, families, and other healthcare team members, including precepting new staff and Cardiology Fellows. Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment by complying with safety standards, managing equipment, and assisting with inventory is crucial. The tech is expected to interact and cooperate with all customers, maintain professional growth through continuous learning and conference attendance, and demonstrate commitment to organizational goals by adapting to changes, ensuring reliability, and participating in departmental initiatives.
