About The Position

The Radiology Technical Assistant plays a crucial role in the Radiology healthcare team, working under the supervision of Radiologic Technologists and Radiologists. This position is responsible for assisting with routine procedures, patient transport, and scheduling imaging exams, ensuring a safe and efficient workflow in the Radiology department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Universal precautions, aseptic technique, and hand hygiene.
  • Ability to provide safe patient care and adhere to radiation safety principles.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and radiology procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients under stress.
  • Ability to use Epic, telephone, and paging systems.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist technologists during routine procedures such as lifting, transporting, and directing patients in and out of the Radiology suite.
  • Work with supervisors and technologists to ensure efficient daily operations and patient workflow.
  • Provide safe and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
  • Follow proper Patient Identification Process and adhere to Hospital and Departmental Policies including HIPAA and Hand Hygiene.
  • Assist patients identified as a falls risk and exercise sound independent judgment under pressure.
  • Locate emergency equipment and understand the importance of calling the appropriate response teams.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work safely within the MRI environment.
  • Monitor and replenish the department's stock and linen supplies.
  • Prepare and clean equipment and rooms before and after each patient to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Assist technologists with patient positioning and moving during exams.
  • Expedite patient transport between departments when necessary.
  • Maintain professional behavior and communication within the department and hospital.
  • Achieve positive relationships with patients, families, visitors, and other healthcare providers.
  • Utilize EPIC, phone, and paging systems to assist at the front desk.
  • Facilitate expediting patient's visits without compromising patient care.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
