About The Position

The position is for a part-time Mammography Technologist at Advocate Health, specifically in the Radiology department. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology.
  • 3 years of radiography experience required, mammography experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health Information System.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Licensed Radiographic Technology by the IDNS.
  • CPR certification.
  • ARRT registered in radiography and mammography.

  • Prior experience with various age groups of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient, adjusts equipment, immobilization and support devices as necessary.
  • Determines appropriate Mammography technique based on anatomy and patients condition.
  • Operates advanced mammography/radiographic equipment.
  • Maintains adequate supply levels within the department.
  • Prepares mammography room by ensuring supplies are stocked.
  • Alerts department supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
  • Distributes information required by State law and other governing agencies.
  • Maintains a timely flow of scheduled patients and emergencies.
  • Secures patient history regarding the reason for the test.
  • Maintains positive customer relations and proper phone etiquette.
  • Provides adequate shielding to every patient according to radiation safety standards.
  • Maintains patient records, answers phones, and schedules exams.
  • Labels all mammograms following established criteria and standards.
  • Checks film quality to assure optimal quality is obtained.
  • Performs quality control activities according to ACR guidelines.
  • Competent to perform film reviews and determine if more views are necessary.
  • Identifies artifacts on film and assists in problem solving.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in relating to patients and staff.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adheres to department procedures regarding patient safety.
  • Participates in professional development and continuing education programs.
