About The Position

The Radiology Student Technologist position at Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia, is a PRN (as needed) role. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited radiology program and have successfully completed one year of school with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The Radiology Student Tech will work under the direction of the Registered Radiologic Technologist, applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation in the area of diagnostic radiology.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited radiology program and has successfully completed one year of school with a GPA of 2.5 or higher (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required).
• GXMO (General X-Ray Machine Operator) state limited license (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed).

Nice To Haves

• Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
• Experience with Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assists with the review of patient information as it relates to radiographic exams.
• Provides lifting assistance and escorts patients to and from Radiology.
• Performs other job-related duties as required by their supervisor.
