As a Radiology Student Intern you will be responsible for obtaining quality radiographs of patients within the department and with all portable equipment in an acceptable timeframe. This excludes exams in the OR, complies with radiation safety guidelines for patient and self. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment. You will also operate radiographic equipment safely, competently, and under the supervision of a registered technologist. Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physician's orders are verified. Requirements

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Second year student status in an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.

Responsibilities

Obtaining quality radiographs of patients within the department and with all portable equipment in an acceptable timeframe.
Complies with radiation safety guidelines for patient and self. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment.
Operate radiographic equipment safely, competently, and under the supervision of a registered technologist.
Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS).
Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physician's orders are verified.
Prepares examination rooms for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance. This includes all work areas and patient dressing rooms.
Assists the radiologist in administering medications, contrast agents and all types of care to the patient under the supervision of a registered technologist.
Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. markers on images, technical quality, anatomical positioning, annotation, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.
Completes and maintains mandatory educational and employee health requirements.
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to HIPAA Policy and Procedure.
