The Radiology Scheduler interfaces with patients, the imaging facility, and Radiologists to perform all functions related to the coordination of imaging scheduling. The Scheduler will obtain and enter into Cerner scheduling the following: medical history, screen patients for medically implanted devices (pain pumps, pacemakers, prosthetics, metal in the body, etc.), inform patients of medication limitations when needed, inform patients when labs are needed, inform patients of exam preparations (food, water, contrast, etc.), obtain and input demographics, insurance authorization, and run eligibility in Cerner & GECB. Additionally, the Scheduler will obtain prior imaging information and place requests for images in Cerner for the IP department to order to have loaded in PACS prior to patient appointments for comparison. The Scheduler will work with Radiology technologists and/or Radiologists to protocol exams to ensure patient safety. When applicable, the Scheduler will communicate with referring providers via phone call or Cerner message center for additional patient medical information, prior imaging locations, and medically implanted device manufacturing numbers if the patient is unable to provide them. Effective communication with the authorization team lead, Scheduler supervisor, and imaging facility is needed. The Scheduler will also perform other duties as assigned.
