About The Position

The position involves answering all inbound telephone calls in a professional, customer-friendly, timely, and efficient manner. The individual will identify themselves to the caller and work diligently with the referring physician, staff, and the patient to schedule procedures as quickly as possible. A neat appearance in proper attire is required, along with wearing the JSMC ID Badge at all times. The role includes implementing AIDET for each patient or customer encounter, which involves acknowledging the customer, introducing oneself, providing time expectations, full explanations of procedures, and thanking the customer for choosing Diagnostic Imaging Services. The individual will competently schedule for all Diagnostic Imaging Modalities at both the hospital and the Diagnostic/Medical Imaging Center, ensuring that all required patient information is obtained and verified. The position also requires compliance with HIPAA regulations, demonstrating competency in patient registration and order entry, and participating in the orientation and training of new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound telephone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Identify self to the caller and provide information regarding procedures.
  • Schedule procedures with referring physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Implement AIDET for each patient encounter.
  • Obtain and verify all required patient information.
  • Request copies of patient orders and insurance cards from referring physician's office.
  • Verify patient involvement in MVA or Workman's Comp claims.
  • Ensure pre-certification is obtained for required procedures.
  • Review outpatient requisition orders and verify scheduled procedures.
  • Consult with technologists, radiologists, or attending physicians for order clarification.
  • Demonstrate competency with McKesson Radiology Management and Resource Scheduling.
  • Communicate with technologists and radiologists about add-on procedures.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
  • Cross-train in patient registration and order entry.
  • Complete all work before leaving shift and review next day schedules.
  • Communicate professionally with patients and family members.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new employees.
  • Assess work area for safety hazards and report issues immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Attend required departmental meetings and complete in-services.
